THE PUPPY NANNY!
Edith "Avona" Keidel Herron---May 4, 1918-December 8,2005. Born to Edward and Edith Keidel in Moberly, Missouri, May 4,1918 and married to Raymond Leroy Herron on Friday, May 13, 1938. Avon moved to the Branford, Florida area in1998 after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years. She always had a great love of dogs that began in early childhood. After moving in with her daughter and family at Tired Iron Acres-South, she became know as the "Puppy Nannie" and took over the care of the new puppies from the time they left their mothers until they went to their new homes. Avona made sure all the puppies were clean, fed, very spoiled and loved. She met the new puppy owners and kept in touch with many of them. During her illiness her favorite past time was looking at pictures of the puppies and their new families. She will forever be in our hearts. Special thanks to Judy Cribbs, her Home Health Aid and personal family friend, and the Staff of Tri-County Nursing Home in Fanning Springs, Florida, for all of their loving care given to "Miss Edith" during the final days of her illiness.
